Young Boerboel dog with snack

November is Peanut Butter Lover’s Month. That is sheer heaven to our canine furry friends. So fire up the oven, get out the baking utensils and prepare to conjure up the best peanut butter recipes for YOUR dog. Not only are they the best tasting but they’re healthy too! By healthy we mean nutritious balanced ingredients, while keeping in mind common allergies dogs can have. Most importantly, always use Xylitol-free peanut butter!

What is Xylitol and why is it in my Peanut Butter?

Xylitol is an artificial sweetener used in many products including peanut butter. Small amounts of  Xylitol cause blood sugars to drop, seizures, and possible liver failure making the toxicity deadlier than chocolate to dogs. To keep your pet safe, always read the ingredient labels. Our best recommendation is to make your own peanut butter. This wholesome, surprisingly simple and cost effective recipe makes the best peanut butter around.
