With fall’s beautiful weather upon us, everyone wants to find ways to spend more time outside. If you’re looking for fun ways to spend some time with your dog this fall, look no further – we’ve got some great activities that you and your dog can enjoy together during the fall.
Nothing’s better than heading out on a hike with your dog, and the fall is the perfect time to do just that. Before you head out on a long hike, though, make sure that your dog is fit enough to handle the challenge. For extra fun, invite a few friends and their dogs along for the trip. Bring snacks or lunch, and plenty of water for both dogs and humans, and make a day of it. Don’t forget to bring along a camera, too.
The cooler weather brought by the fall can make camping enjoyable and more comfortable than it is in the summer. Both you and your dog will probably appreciate the temperature change, so now is a great time to plan a camping trip. You’ll want to include all of your dog’s foods and supplies in your packing list, and if you’re heading to a campground, call ahead to verify that dogs are allowed.
Fall brings with it yard work and chores to prepare your house for winter, but you don’t have to do these alone. Your dog will likely be happy to accompany you during your chores, especially when you’re working in the yard. Does your dog delight in a big pile of raked leaves? You might have twice the work, but your dog will have a great time.
With fall comes football season. Your dog may enjoy participating in a backyard family game of football, or any other fall sports that you like to play. If you’re more of a spectator when it comes to sports, then your dog may be able to accompany you to local games, depending on the venue’s regulations when it comes to dogs.
Depending on your dog’s temperament, he may enjoy accompanying you during trick-or-treating on Halloween. If the actual Halloween night is too much for your dog, there are often pet costume competitions that you and your dog can enter. Be sure to make your dog’s costume ahead of time so that you have plenty of time to get him used to wearing the costume.
